TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) test is used to Determine a person's level of proficiency in English. This test is intended for people who do not use English as their mother. Generally, this test is used as one of the Prerequisites for someone who wants to study or work in a country that uses English in everyday communication. In addition to the TOEFL, there are still some other test types are almost the same, ie IELTS, TOEIC and ESOL. TOEFL is developed and issued by ETS (Educational Testing Service), based in New Jersey, USA. This test was first Introduced in 1963.
A. TOEFL PBT
TOEFL Test
PBT is a form that uses a form of answer sheets of paper . This is a test
system first released by ETS . In PBT , the test was conducted on the listening
, structure and reading . The range of the score given is 310-677 . Moreover ,
the time given to work on this test approximately 2-2.5 hours . However , since
April 2006 , this test is not used anymore in Indonesia . Currently , this test
is still used in countries that do not yet have a system iBT test .
B. TOEFL
CBT
CBT is a
test that is no longer using paper . All tests were conducted in a computer
using specific software . This test system appeared in 1998 . Ability tested
include listening , structure , reading and writing . In this system , the
range of scores is 0-300 with processing time between 2-2.5 hours .
C. TOEFL
iBT
Test the
system iBT test is the most popular and widely used . The system is also
computer-based test, only a test this is connected to the Internet network ,
thus , the test is done online . This test system began to be published and
used in 2005 , but only used in Indonesia in 2006 . Ability tested include
reading, listening , writing and speaking . While this system is widely used ,
but there are still some countries that use the PBT system .
At first,
the TOEFL is used for those who wish to continue their studies , applying for a
scholarship or work in other countries that use English as the language of
daily communication . Along the development era , this test is growing and
becoming one of the important prerequisites in education and business . In
Indonesia , this test began to be used by some universities as a condition of
entry as well as the requirements to get through the exam thesis , dissertation
or thesis . Some companies also make the TOEFL test as a prerequisite for
applying for a job . In fact , this test is also used to get a promotion in job
promotion .
To undergo
TOEFL test , so far there has been some official websites available in
Indonesia . However , the results of this test are not valid forever . In
